The nominations for the 2025 Emmys have been announced and Severance leads the way with 27 nods, while The Studio tallied 23 in this dominant year for Apple TV+.

Severance is the dystopian workplace series in its second season – one fans had to patiently wait three years for. We recently listed it as one of our favourite TV shows of 2025 so far.

Check out the full list of nominees below.

Lead acting nominations came for Severance stars Adam Scott and Britt Lower for what amounted to dual roles as their characters’ “innie” work selves and “outie” home selves.

Tramell Tillman got a supporting nod for playing their tone-shifting, pineapple-wielding supervisor, while Patricia Arquette was nominated for supporting actress for playing an ousted outcast from the sinister family business at the center of the show. Ben Stiller also got a nomination for directing the Season 2 finale.

Apple’s Hollywood satire The Studio is only on its first season, but it romped over more established shows like The Bear (13 nominations) and Hacks, which got 14 – and is also one of our favourites of the year.

The Penguin

The Penguin, HBO’s dark drama from the Batman universe, was also dominant in the limited series category with 24 nominations, including nods for leads Colin Farrell (see pic above) and Cristin Milioti.

Adolescence

Then comes our favourite show of the year (so far): Netflix’s acclaimed Adolescence, which got 13 limited series nominations, including outstanding limited series and best writing for Jack Thorne, who created the drama with Stephen Graham. Graham is also up for best actor.

The potential record to be broken comes with the supporting actor nod for 15-year-old Owen Cooper, who plays 13-year-old Jamie, who is suspected of a killing one of his classmates.

Cooper has made Emmys history by becoming one of the youngest actors to ever be nominated by the US television academy. Should the young British actor win on 14 September, Cooper will be the youngest male winner of an acting Emmy. He will go up against his co-star Ashley Walters, while Christine Tremarco and Erin Doherty will both compete in the supporting actress category.

Recently, the French government has joined the UK’s in deciding to show schoolchildren Adolescence, which deals with tackling toxic masculinity and social media’s grip on impressionable young minds. Check out our full video debrief on the initiative.
