Former White Stripes frontman Jack White has taken aim at Donald Trump’s White House redecoration efforts, in the wake of Trump’s hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders at the White House yesterday to advance peace talks to end the war in Ukraine.

The Grammy-winning artist, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s, went online to share a photo of the two politicians in the Oval Office and described the historic room as a “professional wrestler’s dressing room.”

“Look at how disgusting Trump has transformed the historic White House,” he began. “It’s now a vulgar, gold leafed and gaudy, professional wrestler’s dressing room. Can’t wait for the UFC match on the front lawn too, he’s almost fully achieved the movie “Idiocracy.”

That “UFC match on the front lawn” comment refers to the fact that Trump recently announced his plans for a UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship – an American mixed martial arts promotion) fight at the White House, to better celebrate 250 years of American independence on 4 July 2026.

Trump, who has previously attended several UFC fights, told a crowd of Iowans in July: “We’re gonna have a UFC fight on the grounds of the White House. We have a lot of land there,” adding that it would be “a championship fight, full fight, like 20-25,000 people.”

In his most recent post, White added: “Look at his disgusting taste, would you even buy a used car from this conman, let alone give him the nuclear codes? A gold plated Trump bible would look perfect up on that mantle with a pair of Trump shoes on either side wouldn’t it? What an embarrassment to American history.”

Trump’s alterations to the White House are a matter of public record, and have included a gold “Trump” crest over the historic building’s door and replacing the lawn in the Rose Garden with paving and several gold monuments – including gold cherubs from his Mar-a-Lago estate.

CNN noted earlier this year: “There is gold everywhere: new gold vermeil figurines on the mantle and medallions on the fireplace, gold eagles on the side tables, gilded Rococo mirrors on the doors, and, nestled in the pediments above the doorways, diminutive gold cherubs shipped in from Mar-a-Lago.”

Elsewhere, White did have some kind words for Zelenskyy, concluding his post with: “Also pictured in this photograph, a REAL leader of a nation in a black suit.”

Last year, White added his name to an ever-growing list of artists suing Donald Trump over the illegal use of their songs in campaign videos.

The singer filed a copyright infringement lawsuit, with the band The White Stripes opposing Trump’s use of their song ’Seven Nation Army’ in a political video.

In a post shared to Instagram last September, White captioned a copy of the legal complaint with: “This machine sues fascists.”
