Amsterdam police follow blood trail to stabbing victim inside Sumatrastraat home
A stabbing victim was found injured inside a residential home on the Sumatrastraat in Amsterdam-Oost early Saturday morning. The police discovered the victim by following a trail of blood left on the street.
The incident first came to light just after 7:20 a.m. Police officers initially responded to a disturbance or emergency report near the neighboring Balistraat. Upon arrival, they noticed a clear, visible trail of blood leading away from the scene.
Officers tracked the blood trail directly to an apartment building on the Sumatrastraat, where they located the wounded victim inside a home.
The victim was treated by paramedics on-site and quickly transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance. P2000 emergency network logs show a secondary related dispatch for emergency assistance went out at 12:09 p.m. in the same Sumatrastraat area.
The Amsterdam Police have launched a full forensic and criminal investigation. Due to the victim’s medical treatment, detectives plan to formally question them about the timeline of events at a later time.
As of Saturday afternoon, the police have not released information regarding the suspect’s identity, potential arrests, or the exact motive behind the physical dispute.
