Oil has washed up on several beaches across Zeeland, and the province has warned that swimmers should stay out of the water where the substance has been found.
The first oil was found at the weekend, on the beach in the village of Westkapelle. Over the last few days, deposits have been found in multiple places along the coast.
The province warns people not to touch the oil and advises swimmers to stay out of the water near where oil has been found.
Oil can cause adverse skin reactions and the province advises that if you or your pets come into contact with it to wash thoroughly with soap and water.
It is unclear where the oil originated from. According to the province, the substance is mostly heavy fuel oil.
