Diesel prices climb again in Netherlands, hover near record highs

Diesel prices in the Netherlands rose again on Saturday, following a sharp surge the day before, while petrol prices remained unchanged, according to consumer group UnitedConsumers. The developments come as both fuels hover near record highs, driven by escalating war in the Middle East.

The national recommended price for diesel rose slightly to 2.799 euros per liter on Saturday, up from 2.793 euros the previous day. In contrast, the recommended price for Euro95 petrol held steady at 2.595 euros per liter on Saturday. On Friday, petrol prices had already increased by more than 2 euro cents.

Despite the officially recommended prices, motorists may reportedly find lower rates at many filling stations, as these benchmarks are typically charged along highways.

Iran has effectively closed off the critical Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers and other vessels, disrupting global supply routes. Additionally, attacks involving Iran, the United States, and Israel have repeatedly targeted energy facilities across the region.
