Limburg brewery Alfa has won one of the top prizes at the World Beer Awards for the second time.
The family firm, based in Thull, was awarded the title of World’s Best Classic Pilsener for Edel Pils, which previously won the honour in 2021.
It was one of four Dutch beers to win a Gold award at the annual festival in the English city of Norwich, along with Grolsch’s Cal and Herfstbok and the Gouverneur Superieur Pilsener made by another Limburg brewery, Lindeboom.
Edel Pils was also named as the best Dutch national beer by the international jury.
Alfa has been brewing beer in Thull for 156 years, using traditional family recipes and its own water source.
