Two explosives from the Second World War have been discovered at Eindhoven Airport during renovation groundwork next to one of the airport’s runways.
A spokesperson for the Royal Marechaussee, a branch of the military police, said the explosives were found on Wednesday morning on the military side of the airport, which shares the runway with civilian planes, Brabants Dagblad reported.
One of the items is a mortar shell, and the other has not yet been identified, the spokesperson told broadcaster NOS.
No air traffic was disrupted by the discovery and no civilians were at any harm.
