Alkmaar football club AZ reached the quarter-finals of the Conference League in convincing fashion with a 4-0 win away to Sparta Prague on Thursday evening.
AZ beat the Czech side 2-1 at home last week. The Alkmaar side will face Shakhtar Donetsk in the quarter finals, with the ties scheduled for April 9 and 16.
The visitors made a perfect start in the eighth minute when Isak Jensen finished a long passing move with a diagonal shot and Troy Parrott nearly doubled the lead soon afterward.
Sparta rarely threatened before the break and any hopes of a comeback faded after the interval as AZ remained in control.
Parrott made it 2-0 in the 58th minute from a Denso Kasius cross, and Sven Mijnans added a third, his sixth European goal of the season. Ro-Zangelo Daal completed the scoring after Parrott set him up on the counter attack
AZ are the only Dutch club left in European competition.
