Explosion hits Arnhem home with resident inside
An explosion struck a home on Zwanebloemlaan in Arnhem early Sunday morning, shattering multiple windows, police said.
Officers received a report of the blast around 2 a.m. “During the explosion on Zwanebloemlaan, a person was present in the house,” the 112 emergency reporter who responded to the scene told Omroep Gelderland.
Police are investigating the cause of the explosion and who may be responsible. No suspects have been identified so far.
Attacks involving explosives on homes rose sharply in recent years. In the first half of this year, however, the number fell. Authorities recorded 581 such attacks or attempts, 124 fewer than during the same period a year earlier.
