The Netherlands will be hit by thunderstorms with strong winds and hail later on Friday after a day of sweltering temperatures, weather bureaus say.
The temperature will hit up to 36° in parts of the south east, but it will be cooler, at around 28°, on the coast. The thunderstorms are likely to continue overnight.
Several outdoor events have been cancelled because of the high temperatures, which are set to last over the weekend and into early next week.
There was heavy rain and thunder in the Eindhoven region and in Limburg on Thursday night and traffic was disrupted by fallen trees in several places.
